Schrader service kits
Schrader recommends that service kit components are replaced at every tyre change using a genuine Schrader TPMS service kit. Please use Schrader supplied original replacement parts to invoke warranty. All components in the kits are intended for a one-time use only.
Why Replace the Valve Screw?
The screw connects the valve to the sensor body. To ensure a secure connection, the screw was designed as a self-tapping threaded screw. Therefore the screw cannot be used a second time.
Why Replace the Grommet (for Clamp-in Sensors Only)?
The grommet is the principal sealing gasket between the stem and the wheel rim hole. The grommet is subjected to intense compressive forces and high temperatures, which cause the grommet to adapt its shape to the surface of the rim. In order to ensure a perfect air seal, we strongly recommend the replacement of the grommet together with the other components in the service kit at each tyre change.
Why Replace the Rubber Valve (for Snap-in Sensors Only)?
The rubber valve is constantly exposed to different environmental influences, which leads to a certain aging over time. To ensure the safety of the valve, it is highly advisable to renew it every time the tyre is changed.
Why Replace the Nut (for Clamp-in Sensors Only)?
The anodized aluminium nut prevents the contact of two dissimilar metals with consequent possibility of galvanic corrosion. Torqueing the nut multiple times may damage the threads to the point of failure. A new nut ensures accurate torqueing. Galvanic Corrosion: Occurs when two dissimilar metals are in contact with each other. Please make sure to use only nickel-plated valve cores on aluminium valve stems.
Why Replace the Valve Core?
Heat and compressive forces cause deterioration of rubber and plastic components. Replacing the valve core is vital in order to prevent slow leaks. CAUTION: Do not re-use valve core, make sure to replace with a new electroless nickel plated valve core for aluminium valves.
Why Replace the Cap?
The cap contains a rubber seal which prevents moisture and dirt from entering the stem and contaminating the seal of the valve core. The cap is an integral component in the sealing system of the TPMS sensor and should be replaced together with the rest of the components in the service kit at each tyre change.
